Lemons, why soak them in salt: the old grandmother’s trick!

Lemons  : This is why citrus fruits are soaked in brine. It’s something from our grandmothers.

Lemon is a citrus fruit rich in vitamin C and antioxidants that are beneficial for the human body and should be kept in food reserves. Perfect for making excellent juices and flavoring drinks and food ingredients. Although you can buy lemon juice, it is always good to do it with perfectly preserved natural citrus fruits.  Lemons harvested or purchased from market stalls or supermarkets must be perfectly preserved to avoid the development of mold.

Storing lemons in the refrigerator may not be the best solution, as the temperature in the refrigerator can dry out the lemons and  “dry out”  the citrus peel. If you have a lot of lemons , store them. Let’s check it out

Lemons  : Why do we get mold? Mold often grows on lemons. The source of mold depends not only on climatic conditions, but also on the stage of harvest and distribution of the citrus fruits. If lemons are damaged during transport,  the citrus fruits themselves are susceptible to mold.

Even the acidic pH itself makes lemons more susceptible to fungal spores that thrive in acidic environments.  Green mold attacks lemons the most, but is not absolutely toxic or harmful to the touch or smell.  How to store lemons to prevent blue or green mold from developing?

Lemons are citrus fruits that can be preserved naturally at home without fungus attacking them or causing mold.  There are methods you can use to preserve lemons completely naturally.

If you buy lemons,  slice the citrus and put them in a container with water and salt. Once the container is closed, we recommend shaking it and these citrus fruits will keep for months.

Another valuable tip and natural remedy for storing lemon broth to prevent mold growth is to wash and soak it in baking soda and water to kill bacteria and reduce mold growth.  It is a good idea to dry them thoroughly to prevent moisture from contributing to mold growth.

 Once the lemons are clean and dry , it’s a good idea to put them in a sanitized container and seal it tightly to prevent the fungus from coming into contact with your skin and forming a green or blue mold.  Room temperature or in the refrigerator.
