How to remove rust stains from bathtub and shower?

Those nasty rust stains are a real challenge in any home , especially when they attack an acrylic bathtub. Most often, rust stains are accompanied by a yellowish scale from minerals in the water, making them difficult to remove.

The first thing that comes to mind with rust stains is to grab a hard rust remover from the market , but I would say stop! You don’t have to breathe or destroy your hands with chemicals when natural products are just as effective as other products on the market.

You may want to know that using chemicals on an acrylic bathtub can ruin its appearance and  over time it can crack due to the harsh substances contained in rusts. That is why you should read this article and learn how to remove rust stains from an acrylic bathtub naturally.

 You will need:

white vinegar

 Borax

 Hydrogen peroxide

Hard bristle toothbrush

 Cleaning procedure:

Start by mixing the vinegar and borax to make a paste.  The amounts depend on the amount of rust in your bathtub.

Apply the paste generously to the rusted areas with a toothbrush. Scrub the rust in a circular motion.

If there are stubborn spots where the rust just won’t come off , simply apply a thick layer of this vinegar and borax paste and let it sit for a few minutes without scrubbing. If the paste becomes powdery, sprinkle it with vinegar.

Don’t let it dry out.

Rinse with cold water . If there are any small rust spots left in the tub, spray it with hydrogen peroxide and scrub again with a toothbrush.
