The Natural Cleaner Your Nasty Toilet Needs

The Natural Cleaner Your Dirty Toilet Needs

I’m a big fan of eco-friendly cleaners . With two young kids running around, I’m always on the lookout for a natural cleaner that will reduce the harmful toxins in my home and make cleaning easier.  And few cleaning products contain as many toxins as toilet cleaners . Instead, I went to my pantry to get the supplies for this baking cleaner and vinegar.  The bottom line? My toilet has never sparkled so much!

Start by grabbing the vinegar and baking soda from your pantry. You can also grab some essential oil to boost the freshness. So go to that dirty toilet…

Rude huh? I’m embarrassed to show you this , but you have to see how she appreciated how amazing this homemade cleaner is.

Step 1: Spray the vinegar

I poured the vinegar into an empty spray bottle to make it easier to get into all the nooks and crannies of the toilet . I didn’t want to dive in, so this was definitely an “off-season” cleaning method.

When my bottle was ready to use , I sprayed a few heavy sprays into the dirty bowl, covering all the dirty nooks and crannies.

Step 2: Add drops of essential oil.

Technically I didn’t have to do this step because it’s not essential to cleaning, but boy does it smell good! I like to use lavender, tea rose, or any lemon scent for a really fresh, clean scent.

Step 3: Sprinkle with baking soda

Next , I sprinkled 2 tablespoons of baking soda around the toilet walls. This was enough for my mess, but be as liberal as you need to be with your cooking.

Get ready for bubbles!  When the baking soda hit the vinegar, my toilet bowl started bubbling and broke up the nasty buildup all by itself! If the stain is really stubborn, you may need to let it sit for a few minutes or repeat steps 1 and 3.  If you leave the stain for an hour, it will even lift off the limescale!

Step 4: Brush off loose dirt

Scrub lightly with a toilet brush to remove any loose cream that won’t come off on its own. I added this step just for good measure, but most of the time you don’t even need to scrub. Step 5  : Rinse!

After that I went to the bathroom and saw all my sorrows (and my toilet) disappear!

This homemade cleaner is seriously the best toilet cleaner I’ve ever used. Call me crazy , but I think few things make you feel better than seeing your toilet sparkling clean.
